Here's a BTS video from a really fun collaboration with Wacom Technology Corp.'s Education group. In it I show how I create water splashes and dirt & debris blasts. Hopefully it inspires kids (and adults!) to try some fun toy photography during summer break.
The small but mighty Intuos tablet I used to edit these images is incredible and offers incredible value. I began using Intuos tablets and pen tools 15 years ago, back when I was photographing portraits and weddings. For me, using the pen tool is much more intuitive when editing images or creating concepts than using a mouse. There's a reason why actual pencils, pens, and paintbrushes have the form factors they do and aren't shaped like a mouse.
